Jack L. Kopnisky
President & Chief Executive Officer

Jack L. Kopnisky currently serves as President and CEO of Sterling Bancorp and its principal banking subsidiary Sterling National Bank. Under Mr.Kopnisky's leadership, Sterling has grown from $3.2 billion in assets in 2011 to $32 billion in assets in 2018. Prior to his appointment, Mr.Kopnisky served as Chief Executive Officer of SJB Escrow Corporation, a $1.1 billion investment pool since 2009, and as a partner in Mercatus LLC, a national financial services consulting and investing firm, since 2008. From 2005 until 2008, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of First Marblehead Corporation, a provider of outsourcing services for private education lending. Before joining First Marblehead, Mr.Kopnisky held several top executive positions at KeyCorp. He was President of the Consumer Banking Group and CEO and President of KeyBank USA. Mr.Kopnisky held full P&L responsibilities for a $65 billion business portfolio and helped Key Corp build one of the largest branch networks in the United States.

Mr.Kopnisky serves on the Board of Directors of Sterling Bancorp, the Board of Trustees of St. Thomas Aquinas College, Summer Search of NYC, Children’s Museum of Manhattan, and the Westchester County Association. He received his undergraduate degree from Grove City College. He also graduated from the Case Western Reserve Executive Program at the Weatherhead School of Business and the University of Delaware’s Stonier Banking School. He was awarded an honorary doctoral degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 2017.
Luis Massiani
Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Luis Massiani has served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sterling Bancorp and Sterling National Bank since 2012. Mr. Massiani is responsible for all financial matters of the Company including accounting, treasury, corporate development, and investor relations. He also leads the Company's mergers and acquisitions efforts. Prior to 2012, Mr. Massiani was a Director in the Investment Banking department of Credit Suisse Securities, LLC. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Massiani served as a Director in the Investment Banking department of Citadel Securities, LLC. He holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Rodney C. Whitwell
Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer

Rodney C. Whitwell was named Chief Administrative Officer of Sterling Bancorp and Sterling National Bank in July 2017, and previously had been Chief Operating Officer since November 2011. Mr. Whitwell has over 30 years of leadership experience in executive financial and investment services. He served as Director of Segment Management for Key Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio from 2004 to 2007, Senior Vice President of New Business Initiatives at The First Marblehead Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts from 2007 to 2008 and from 2008 to 2010 he served as Chief Executive Officer at Union Federal Savings Bank, a subsidiary of The First Marblehead Corporation. Mr. Whitwell was Principal at Mercatus LLC, a national financial services consulting and investing firm, from 2010 to 2011.
Thomas X. Geisel
Senior Executive Vice President & Corporate Banking President

Thomas X. (Tom) Geisel serves as Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Banking President with the primary responsibility to lead the strategic and execution activities of the business. The Corporate Bank consists of traditional C&I and CRE Lending, the national Specialty Finance businesses, Treasury Management and the Underwriting and Portfolio Management support functions. Prior to his most recent appointment, Mr. Geisel served as Executive Vice President, Specialty Finance President. Before joining Sterling, Mr. Geisel was the Managing General Partner of Templar Ventures, a private equity growth fund. From 2008 - 2013, he was President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Sun Bancorp, Inc. Preceding Sun Bancorp and beginning in 1999, Mr. Geisel held a number of executive positions within KeyCorp including Managing Director of Investment Banking, Commercial Banking Executive, and Regional President for the Northeast and Florida Regions. Mr. Geisel was employed early in his career by the US Department of Justice in various capacities domestically and overseas.
Michael E. Finn
Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer

Michael E. (Mike) Finn currently serves as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of Sterling National Bank and Sterling Bancorp. He was appointed Senior Executive Vice President in July, 2017 and Executive Vice President in June, 2015. Previously, Mr. Finn was the Chief Risk Officer of Hudson Valley Bank from January 2014 to the Company’s merger in June, 2015. From 2011 to 2013, Mr. Finn served as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Comptroller of the Officer of the Comptroller of the Currency. From 2004 to 2011, Mr. Finn served as Regional Director for the Office of Thrift Supervision
James P. Blose
Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer

James P. (Jim) Blose currently serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of Sterling National Bank and Sterling Bancorp since June 2015. He was appointed Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Hudson Valley Holding Corp. and Hudson Valley Bank in October 2013. Prior to joining Hudson Valley Bank, Mr. Blose served as a partner with the law firm of Griffin, Coogan, Blose, Sulzer & Horgan, P.C., located in Bronxville, New York, since December 2003.
